While creating the object “Abandoned by the Body,” the artist questioned what “clothing” actually is for a human being. Every day we see it on passersby and sometimes perceive it as something almost as alive as the person wearing it. But when clothing is transformed into a solid state in which it can no longer fulfill its function, prolonged observation becomes unsettling. This effect is known as the uncanny valley—a feeling of fear that arises when encountering an object that resembles a human, yet possesses traits that are not truly human. This state is comparable to a dream in which the boundary between reality and illusion is indistinguishable. The composition of the installation is designed to amplify these sensations many times over, as if the viewer themselves is experiencing sleep paralysis, with an entity looming overhead. 2022
